Terre des Hommes (TDH): Free Online-Course on Producing Safe Communications Materials for Terre des Hommes staff members and partners
The Terre des Hommes International Federation is a network of ten national Terre des Hommes organisations working worldwide for the rights of children and to promote equitable development without racial, religious, political, cultural or gender-based discrimination.
All Terre des Hommes organisations are committed that their staff, operations, and programmes do no harm to children and adults at-risk nor expose them to abuse or exploitation.
This course has been designed to equip everyone who works for a member of the Terre des Hommes International Federation (THDIF) or a partner organisation of Terre des Hommes with the basic skills and knowledge they need to be able to implement the Child Safeguarding Policy when producing communications materials about the work we do with children.
Before starting this course, it is recommended that you first complete the induction course on child safeguarding, and are aware of your own role and responsibility to keep children safe.
Communications materials can be used for many different purposes. When we produce stories, photos, films the neither the process of production nor the final product should do no harm to children and be in the best interest of the children featured. To achieve this, safeguarding should be a consideration throughout the process of production. This requires us to take preventative actions to reduce the possibility of harm occurring when producing and sharing content, but also to respond where harm has or is likely to occur.
By the end of this module, you should be able to…
- Recognise how children might be harmed by our communications materials, and
- Take preventative actions to reduce the possibility of children being harmed by our communications materials.
The course takes about 30 min. to complete.
