LEAP - Participatory practice
This course will explore how practitioners working with children and young people effected by sexual violence (SV) can engage young people as active partners in their own support and care, by applying a set of approaches known as the participatory practice. This framework helps children and young people affected by sexual violence to assert their rights and reclaim their power to create positive change in their lives and in the world around them. It calls for practitioners to focus on young people's strengths, to respect young people as competent social actors, and to let young people take greater control over how they engage with services

Learning outcomes
- Understand the importance of involving children effected by SV in the decision making process.
- Understand how often times traditional approaches might not address the disempowering effects of sexual violence on children.
- Those living and working with young people effected by sexual violence will understand the diverse, multiple and often devastating impacts on an individual.
- Understanding participatory practice as a broader concept.
The modules include narrated presentations, video interviews with practitioners who have applied the framework in real-life situations, interactive scenarios to practice applying the principles yourself, surveys, review questions, and a printable workbook for reflection and journaling exercises and takes around 2.5 hours in total.
Certificate of completion will be provided once all modules are marked complete.
